Maintaining the fire part 2

I love lighting fires. Might have come through on my previous post hahaha. But, it’s just so cool! Out of nowhere, these flames just light up and once you’ve fed them well, they keep pumping . . . until they don’t!

You see, in the natural, fires want to die out. Without continual re-fueling, they will eventually die down.

Contrast that with the burning bush that Moses saw in the desert in Exodus 3 - it caught his attention because it did not burn out. That’s what the Lord wants with us! A continual, steadfast on-fire love and attention for Him and He with us. That’s the goal!

Today, I want to give a few more ways to keep the fire burning.

Keep your wood dry.

It’s pretty simple. Wood that is wet is hard to burn. Has your spiritual life been hard to re-ignite? What could this mean? Possibly - wet wood. Wet wood to me indicates a life full of distractions and weight and sin. Too much going on and possibly too much of the wrong thing. Hebrews 12 talks about such things weighing us down and entangling us. Get rid of the distractions, get rid of the sin and allow His and your love to re-ignite once again!

Eat the Word.

The Word of God is amazing fuel for your fire. Keep eating of the Word and getting it in ya! It is exactly what is needed to keep the fire of fresh revelation, insight, wisdom and His own voice flowing.

Be filled with the Spirit!

As mentioned last week, being filled with the Spirit of God is like the oxygen that fires need to really burn! Edify, grow, sharpen and hone yourself and your spirit by continually being filled by the Spirit and speaking in tongues. If you have never been baptised in the Spirit or need a fresh outpouring, find someone who can pray with you and make it happen because when it does . . . BAM, it is ON!
