Who loves ants?

Who loves ants?

I’m not sure I know of anyone who wakes up in the morning and smiles and yells out to the family, “Good news whanau! There are ants all over the kitchen! Woohoo, awesome!”

Yet there is so much to learn from ants . . . if we are willing to humble ourselves and take the time to learn from one of the smallest and most numerous creatures we know.

Proverbs 6 says, “Go to the ant you sluggard [wow, straight up haha!] and take the time to observe and you will be wise . . .”

It continues to explain how the ant is super smart, gathering in at harvest, and preparing for the next season.

Humans on the other hand tend to, if unwise and immature, eat all that is in front of us - whether it be actual food, or money, time, etc. We are consumers and this is noted as being unwise. We are called to be wise.

True wisdom comes from God. James says that, “If anyone lacks wisdom [I think we can all put our hands up?!], he should ask God and not doubt and God will give it without reservation.”

Jesus also said in Matthew 7 that those who HEAR and DO what He says, are wise.

HEAR + DO = WISE

Wisdom comes from God and it clearly involves the action of preparation.

To this end, it is vital that we take the time to stop, wait and to listen and hear what God is instructing us to do in the season we are in right now. And it may differ from person to person - we are all in different seasons and contexts.

Furthermore, it is important that you hear what God is saying to you about your “today” and your “tomorrow”. Don’t set up camp at the instructions He gave you in 1973 because He may have different instructions for you here in 2025.

Take Luke 9 for example - Jesus told His disciples to go out to the world and take pretty much nothing with them because He would supply all their needs. And guess what . . . He did.

Now the disciples could have thought that that was the go for the rest of their lives but Jesus flipped the script later on with fresh instructions for the new season they were about to enter into. Check out Luke 22 . . .

In Luke 22, Jesus asks His crew is He supplied all their needs the last time they went out . . .

Paraphrased: “Yes, for sure”. they replied. “We lacked nothing, it was awesome!”

“Well boys, this time it’s gonna be different . . . take everything with you. Actually, this time grab a sword as well, because you’re gonna need it.”

Jesus’ instructions for you today matter because He is preparing you for your tomorrow.

We believe that 2025 is a year of great harvest.

We are of the firm belief that this is what the Lord has told us. It is important therefore that we heed His instruction and forecast and prepare for this harvest accordingly.

Our encouragement to you - do the same. Take the time to listen to His voice and ask Him for His instructions for the season you are in now and the season to come.

Action points:

  1. Set aside quality time with God to ask Him about His instructions

  2. Bring with you a pen and journal to write down what He says

  3. DO IT

Loving life and loving God - see you Sunday whanau!
