Wanna change the atmosphere around you?

Ever walked into a place and picked up that things are not too flash?

Like, have you ever walked into someone’s house and just figured out that the people there must have just had an argument because it just felt a little . . . you know . . . like tense . . .

It happens!

Same thing applies when you walk into a room or church that is just pumping with joy and love - you pick it up straight away!

Wouldn’t it be great if YOU were that person who dictates the ‘feel’ and buzz around you, regardless of where you are. Well you can be!

One of the greatest tools we have in changing the atmosphere is GRATITUDE.

Here’s a little phrase I’ve kept a hold on to for years now:

Gratitude changes the atmosphere

Like a contagious cough or the yawn-ripple effect, when you choose gratefulness, those around you change . . . for the better.

Being grateful is a choice. A decision to look for that which is good. A decision to speak out and declare that which you are grateful for.

King David was a great example of what we should do in terms of gratefulness:

  • Praise the Lord, my soul! Let everything within me praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits - Psalm 103

  • Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His love endures forever! To Him who alone does great wonders, who by His understanding made the heavens, the moon and stars to govern the night; to Him who divided the Red Sea, who led His people through the wilderness . . . - Psalm 136

In Psalm 103, David is commanding his soul to give thanks. You see, life happens and there may be times when we don’t necessarily feel like being grateful or thankful . . . but feelings are not there to rule our lives - we choose. David chose gratefulness and told himself to get into line and praise the Lord! We must do the same.

I choose to be grateful!

In Psalm 136, David recalls all the good things that the Lord has done for him. I encourage you to do the same! Write down what you are grateful for, all that the Lord has done for you. We have sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much to be grateful for.

Air in our lungs.

A sky where we can see the stars.

An amazing church family who love on us.

A faithful God who continues to be faithful, even when I am faithless . . .

An amazing God who forgives ALL my sin and gives me a NEW start every day.

My encouragement to you today is to jump on to this 7 day challenge. You will see amazing results.

Action point:

  • 7 day challenge

    • For the next 7 days:

      • Verbally speak out 3 things you’re grateful for when you wake up - before your feet touch the ground

      • During the day, write down three things you’re grateful for

      • Tell 3 different people one thing you are grateful for

        • They may think you’re a little weird at first but they’ll soon catch on!

    • Enjoy the change that will happen in your attitude, your home and your life.

GRATEFULNESS CHANGES THE ATMOSPHERE.
