Psalm 34…loaded…

One of my favourite parts of the Bible is Psalm 34. Talk about real . . . so real. Talk about truth . . . so, so true. Talk about powerful . . . so, so, so powerful. Let’s dive in!

We have been talking about how the Word of God is a weapon. We are to SPEAK and DECLARE His Word in authority and in faith. Psalm 34 is LOADED with goodness that we can speak and declare as children of the King.

Before we head into any battle, it is valuable to identify clearly the enemy and then to prepare the ammo and strategy to counter accordingly. In this context, our ammo and strategy is declaring key scripture.

Now the enemy can be any of these, although this list is far from conclusive:

  • Fear

  • Unforgiveness

  • Uncontrolled anger

  • Lust

  • Lack of self control

  • Bitterness

  • Swearing

  • Dirty mouth or mind

  • Lying

  • Gossip

  • Pride - one of the biggies and key instigators

  • Fear

    • Fear takes many, many forms. Fear of people, fear of failure, fear of the dark, fear of particular things, fear of public speaking (used to be a biggie for me), fear of succeeding, fear of what others may think, and the list goes on

Psalm 34 contains a HEAP of specific, focused and precision ammo that we can use against the enemy when he tries to have a crack at us. When any of these things try to pop their head up in our lives, we can stand strong on the Word and unleash it on him as we verbally declare the Word of God in authority and in faith:

My mouth is a weapon of praise and blessing - Psalm 34:1

When I cry out to the Lord, He hears me and smokes all areas of fear in my life - Psalm 34:4

My focus is on God. Shame, including my past, is not a part of me - Psalm 34:5

When I cry out to God for help, He saves me from ALL trouble - Psalm 34:6

I’ve just utilised the first 6 verses of Psalm 34 above . . . and there is a HEAP more in the entire chapter.

My encouragement to you is to go through Psalm 34 and to write out some key declarations for the enemy.

Load up, be ready and get trigger happy - you are here to overcome!

Action points:

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to help you

  • Read through Psalm 34

  • Physically write down key scriptures that jump out at you

  • Write them as declarations of faith with authority

  • Speak them out daily and WIN at this thing called life - you are more than a conquerer

See you Sunday whanau!
